Transfer of iPhone Apps

On September 25 2012, Open System Consultants Pty Ltd (OSC) sold the rights to its iPhone Apps to AirSpayce Pty Ltd. The Apps concerned are:

Although both Open System Consultants and AirSpayce tried very hard to convince Apple to transfer those apps seamlessly to AirSpayce, Apple declined to do that. The only option that Apple allowed was for OSC to discontinue the apps and remove them from sale in the App Store. AirSpayce then updated the apps and added new versions to the App Store with the same names.

This is extremely unfortunate for previous purchasers of these Apps, since it means a free upgrade path from the earlier OSC versions to the later AirSpayce versions of the Apps is not available.

This means that people who previously bought these Apps from OSC are not able to get free updates to more recent versions sold by AirSpayce. The only option to get a more recent version is to purchase the later version of App. We, like our customers, find this outcome extremely disappointing. We wish it did not have to be so, and we tried hard to convince Apple otherwise. Unfortunately there is nothing AirSpayce can do to make this situation better for licensees of the prior OSC versions. We are very sorry about this, and wish it did not have to be that way.

If you purchased one of these Apps from Open System Consultants and do not wish to upgrade to a more recent version, then you may not have to purchase the App again. If you wish to upgrade your iOS device and keep using the old version of the App, you may be able to use the procedure described here. However, Apple have obsoleted some devices and iOS versions, and they have introduced new devices that are incompatible with old Apps. Therefore it may not be possible to transfer the old version of iBal to a new device or version of iOS.

Update November 2017: users with iOS 11 or later on their device must update to the new versions of the apps: the old versions will not run on iOS11.

Since acquiring these Apps, AirSpayce has invested heavily in supporting new Apple devices and versions of iOS, and has introduced many new features and support for many new aircraft in iBal Rotary, and we will continue to provide regular, free updates and support for the latest version.
